ConJosé.
Worldcon. The World Science Fiction Convention. The Big Beanie. Home of
the Hugos. Where Gardner Comes Out To Play.
In
addition to being the gathering place par excellence of Fandom,
Worldcon is also one of the places where speculative fiction writers can
meet, greet, make contacts and generally hobnob with other members of
the writing dodge (and if you're a new/struggling writer, find a kind
agent or editor willing to look at your work). This year, four members
of FutureClassics will be among that heady
throng -- myself,
Derek James, Bill
Ledbetter and Gloria
Oliver.
Yes,
but what will you four be doing at such a gathering, you ask. Well,
among other things (such as browsing the Tapestry
Arts street fair, sayeth the quilter), we'll be:
- Going
to panels, readings, filkings and autographings
- Browsing
the Dealer's Room
- Attending
events such as the Hugos and the Masquerade
- Participating
in the SFWA Musketeer Fencing Demo (admittedly, I'm the only one who'll
be doing that, but the others may come and watch)
- Gathering
in the hotel lobby to talk, swap stories, sing songs, drink drinks and
beg Selina Rosen to sing her version of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"
(With Humorous Gestures®)
- Taking
pictures and notes wherever we go
- And,
of course, hitting parties. Lots ands lots of parties.
Ahem.
In any case, this website has been designed to let you enjoy Worldcon
vicariously through our eyes, ears and experiences, and without having
to pay for airfare.
Browse
and enjoy!
