Saturday -- Costuming, Fencing and Smut, Oh My!
|
Bill
Well,
here I am, reporting live from Sunny Cal-iforn-i-a. The day time
temps have been great, maxing out in the low 80's.
The
Con is great so far -- I attended two panels yesterday and part
of a third, then last night went to a party hosted by EOS, the
Sci Fi arm of Harper-Collins. It was fun, loaded with big names
in the SF world, most of the big editors, even David Brin was
there. I wanted to ask him if I could get my picture taken with
him (Denise had the digital camera,) but I chickened out. Then
we went to an Peruvian restaurant for a late dinner. It was really
good, too.
Well,
I'm off for another day of immersing myself in the world of SF.

This

from Sean McMullen. (I really enjoyed him.) Will put down notes
and comments made during the panel.

Melanie
I
probably should have figured out that something was wrong when
I
woke up last night at 4:15 AM feeling like I had the worst case
of flu in the world. I was shivering, nauseated, and aching because
the bed was so frigging uncomfortable, so I staggered into the
bathroom, had a long hot shower and drank a couple of glasses
of water. The glasses of water were because I recognized these
symptoms -- I was dehydrated, although Cthulu only knew why (it's
not like I'd been doing serious aerobics or heat work the day
before).
Finally
I wrapped up in the complimentary bathrobe, pulled cushions from
the loveseat and chair in the room and arranged them on the floor,
and went back to sleep. Not the most comfortable, but it's still
better than the bed.
