The
entrance to the Convention Center, complete with inflatable UFO and
a whole gaggle of blow-up aliens (there's an entire inflatable area
just for kids). Wonder if I can get one of those aliens for my cubicle.

The
sign of a well-run con -- small registration lines. They were exquisitely
professional and quick about getting me my badge. |
 |
This
was a brilliant innovation -- the badge is actually a printed piece
of paper (with the names large and easily readable, if you'll notice)
slipped inside the clear pocket of this little bag. There are two
pouches on the back for money, key cards, and stuff like that, and
you could get your choice of green, blue, purple or red. Lose the
slip of paper, and you pay $10. Lose the bag, and you have to pay
for an entire new membership. Great idea, and the boobs aren't bad,
either.

I've
seen these characters before at A-Kon, but I don't know what they're
called. |

Terry
Pratchett, who was kind enough to point out the kiosk selling corset
parts and books on corsetry. "Although I dunno what you need
one for," he said. What a nice man. |
