Thursday
Torcon Dead Beaver Party -- vanilla ice cream with walnuts and maple syrup and the final (and extremely late) newsletter. Always a good time (and an honest bunch of people, too, as Steve left his camera there accidentially and nobody walked off with it).
Australia in 2024 -- I do want to go to Australia, and not just because Pterry said I should. Besides, it sounds like a fun place (as I said to the door person, it's not fair that they got all the convicts and we got all the puritans).
Nippon in '07 -- plunked down my $20 and received my headband as a supporter. I'm voting for them tomorrow -- if they win, it looks like we'll be going to Yokohama sometime in August 2007. Time to start saving NOW, methinks.
Friday
Circlet Press -- lots of books (including MIND AND BODY, with the cover that I designed), lots of nifty nibbles, and some cool giveaways. Ctan always knows how to throw a good party.
The Liaden Lounge -- run by the Friends of Liaden, and for reasons I still don't understand it's covered in lizards. My only disappointment was that some rather prissy young miss erased Lyndon's comment about the Prez from the comment board.
The Chesley Awards reception -- gorgeous artwork, live jazz music, free cake and and beer you had to purchase, which offended Selina's sensibilities but did give birth to Rosen's Corollary to Yog's Law.
The SFWA Suite -- we managed to scare people away from our corner of the room, which counts for something. Oh, and I got my ass wet from cooler condensation -- whee! |
